Meet Our Team
An Evolving Tradition of Healing
Dr. David Bush and Dr. Dawn Bush have been advancing the The Oaks Healthcare legacy together since they took over the practice in 1991. We welcome your entire family to discover true wellness, together!
Adjusted for the first time since she was three by her mother, Dr. Dawn has always lived a chiropractic lifestyle. Her husband, Dr. David, visited a chiropractor after a terrible car accident, changing his career and life path. Together, their experience and present passions have created a unique and welcoming healing environment.

"A tragic accident changed everything."
Many years ago, my mom and sister were forced off of the road by an 18-wheeler. My sister was driving at the time and the car was squashed by the truck. The worst part was that my mother was trapped as the roof was crushed on top of her head. As a result, she constantly suffered from severe headaches and back pain. We tried everything to help her, but nothing worked. I thought my mom would never be the same person again because she couldn’t do anything without pain.
One Last Chance of Hope
Two years later, my dad suggested she try a friend who was a chiropractor as a “last resort.” The chiropractor did an exam, took some films and then adjusted her spine. The adjustment felt good and the results were swift and amazing!
After her first adjustment she told me she felt 60% better. She finally discovered relief and I got my mom back the way she was before the accident! No drugs, no surgery and no scary procedures at the hospital.
Becoming a Chiropractor and Nurse Practitioner
Chiropractic care worked so well for my mom that I went to chiropractic school myself and have been a chiropractor in the Humble area since 1991. I graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas in 1982 and Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena in 1987 with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. I am fully certified in Active Release Technique®, a specialized soft tissue treatment and a member of the Elite Providers Network.
In 2009, I completed a BSN program from Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing. Then, in 2011 I finished my Master’s degree and a Family Nurse Practitioner program with national accreditation from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. I felt this added training would really enhance my ability to provide the best care available to our patients.
Providing Wellness Care to Humble
It’s strange how life is because now people come to see me with their injuries. Also patients come to me for help with their headaches, migraines, chronic pain, ear infections, neck pain, shoulder/arm pain, backaches, asthma, allergies and even athletic injuries.
As a chiropractor and nurse practitioner, I focus on family and wellness care and have studied alternative methods of healing difficult illnesses extensively. I have worked with many athletes, including professional, Olympic and weekend warriors. My current focus is helping patients achieve maximum health with natural methods of hormone replacement for both men and women.
I’m excited to be able to expand the types of care I bring to our patients and I’d like to help your family next. Learn more about our chiropractic and medical services, then contact us today to schedule an appointment.

"Years ago something happened to me that changed my life forever. Let me tell you my story."
I Was That Child Who Was Constantly Sick
I was just three years old when it happened. It’s the summer, and I’m having one ear infection after another. My mom had to take me screaming and crying to the medical center. This went on every week for three months! They just give me antibiotic drugs, but that doesn’t help with the problem.
The last visit was terribly emotional for both my mom and me; we were desperate. By that time, there was nothing more the doctors can do but stand there and watch my ear drum burst. But there’s more.
Meeting a “New” Doctor
Later that same day, my poor mom brings me to a new doctor. That new doctor talks to my mom about what’s going on with me. He examines me, then gently adjusts my spine. An adjustment for a little kid is a lot different than for an adult.
Since that very day, I have only had one more ear infection by the time I was 12! My mom couldn’t believe it. Oh, by the way, did I mention that this new doctor is a chiropractor? And, that same doctor helps my mom with migraines that she had for years!
Following My Mother’s Footsteps
Chiropractic works so well for my mom, and she is so impressed with the other “miracles” she sees in his office that she eventually went to chiropractic school herself. I grew up watching more and more “miracles” in my own mother’s office. There was only one choice for me, and I eventually went to chiropractic school!
The Remarkable Benefits of Chiropractic Care
Did the chiropractor cure my ear infections? No. The adjustment just lets our body work the way it was designed, removing interferences to allow normal function. Too often chiropractic care is associated with only back and neck pain. However, often restoring normal function allows more than just back or neck pain to improve. Better function equals better health!
The further through chiropractic school I got, the more I kept thinking that surely “an ounce of prevention” would allow for stronger spines and healthier bodies. So, after completing chiropractic college, I decided to complete more specific training in pediatric chiropractic care. I was board certified by the International Chiropractor’s Association with a Diplomate in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics. This extra work provided more detailed clinical training on the special needs of pregnant patients and children, from newborns on up. Over the years, I added to my training in nutrition, BioCranial Technique, and I am full body certified in Active Release Technique®, a specialized soft tissue treatment, and a member of the Elite Providers Network.
With a passion to help families live their best lives, I’m eager to help you next. Learn more about family and pediatric chiropractic care and contact me to schedule an appointment.
