Dr. David Asks...
Your First Visit to Our Humble Practice

On your first visit to our office, you will be greeted by our cheerful staff, and asked to sign in. We will get a copy of your insurance card and driver's license. This helps us get a head start on your paperwork so you can see the doctor as efficiently as possible. We will take you on a short tour of our office, and seat you in a room where you can fill out your initial information. For most patients, we collect this information in an interactive touch-screen computer. If you have a work related injury, or a car accident case, we need to use different forms. When you're done at the computer, it prints out your answers on a form for the doctor. You will then move into the examination room. Here, the doctor will review the information you filled out to better understand what brought you in and what challenges you are facing. He will review what will be done on this visit, and what the cost will be with you. For most people, a complete examination is done, including x-rays if the doctor feels they are necessary. We recommend that you allow about an hour and 15 minutes for this first visit.
Generally, after the examination, the doctor will escort you to the front desk where you signed in, and you will be checked out. However, some people come in severe pain. For those, the doctor may choose to begin some treatment on the first visit, to help get you more comfortable. At the end of your visit, we will make an appointment for your next visit, where the doctor will review your examination findings and make recommendations for your care. If you have insurance, we will also send you home with a bit of homework.
We ask those wishing to use their insurance benefits to verify with their company what those benefits include. Over the years, we have found that the insurance company gives the patient much more accurate information than the doctor's office. We don't like surprises in your coverage any more than you do and this helps each of us understand the benefits and limitations of your policy. Bringing this information back on your next visit helps us to keep your account billed as efficiently as possible, so that you know exactly what to expect when you use your insurance. We have a form you can take home with you (or download from this site!). By calling the 800 number on your insurance card and answering each question on the form as completely as possible, you are taking an important step in using your benefits wisely. When you bring us that completed form, we can answer any questions you may have about your coverage and you can make whatever financial choices about your care are most appropriate for you.
We Explain Everything First
The purpose of your consultation with the doctor is to discuss your health goals and see if chiropractic is likely to help you. If it looks promising, a thorough examination will help identify the cause of your problem.
Humble chiropractic patients appreciate that we explain everything in advance!
