Many years ago, my Mom and sister were forced off the road by an 18-wheeler. My sister was driving and the car was squashed. The worst part was that my mother was trapped as the roof was crushed on top of her head. As a result, she suffered constantly from severe headaches and back pain. We tried everything to help her, but nothing worked. I thought my Mom would never be the same person. She couldn't do anything without pain.
Two years later, my Dad suggested she try a friend who was a chiropractor as a "last resort". The chiropractor did an exam, took some films and then "adjusted" her spine. The adjustment didn't hurt, it actually felt good. The results were swift and amazing. After her first "adjustment" she told me she felt 60% better. She got relief, and I finally got my Mom back the way she was before the accident! No drugs, no surgery, and no scary procedures at the hospital. It worked so well that I went to chiropractic school myself.
It's strange how life is, because now people come to see me with their injuries. Also they come to me with their headaches, migraines, chronic pain, ear infections, neck pain, shoulder/arm pain, backaches, asthma, allergies, numbness in limbs and athletic injuries, just to name a few.
I have been a chiropractor in the Humble area since 1991. I graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas in 1982, Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena in 1987 with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. I have worked with many athletes, professional, Olympic and weekend warriors. I am fully certified in Active Release Technique, a specialized soft tissue treatment (I’m also a certified instructor for this one!). In 2009, I completed a BSN program from Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing, and in 2011 finished my Master’s degree and a Family Nurse Practitioner program with National accreditation from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in May of 2011. I focus on family and wellness care and have studied alternative methods of healing difficult illnesses extensively. His current focus is helping patients achieve maximum health with natural methods of hormone replacement for both men and women. I’m excited to be able to expand the types of care I bring to our patients.

Years ago something happened to me that changed my life forever. Let me tell you my story.
I’m just three years old when it happens. It’s the summer and I’m having one ear infection after another. My mom has to take me, screaming and crying, to the medical center. This goes on every week for three months! They just give me antibiotic drugs, but that doesn’t help with the problem. The last visit is terribly emotional for both my mom and me. By that time there is nothing more they can do but literally stand there and watch my ear drum burst. But there’s more...
Later that same day, my poor mom brings me to a new doctor. That new doctor talks to my mom about what’s going on with me. He examines me, then gently “adjusts” my spine. An adjustment for a little kid is a lot different than for an adult. And, since that very day, I only have one more ear infection, and that’s when I’m twelve! My mom can’t believe it. Oh, by the way, did I mention that this new doctor is a chiropractor? And, that same doctor helps my mom with migraines that she had for years! Chiropractic works so well for my mom and she is so impressed with the other "miracles" she sees in his office, that she eventually went to chiropractic school herself. And, I grew up watching more and more “miracles” in my own mother’s office. There was only one choice for me, and I eventually went to chiropractic school! And that’s how it happened!”
Did the chiropractor “cure” my ear infections? Nope. The adjustment just lets our bodies work the way it was designed, removing interferences to allow normal function. Too often chiropractic care is associated with only back and neck pain. However, often restoring normal function allows more than just back or neck pain improving… better function = better health!
The further through chiropractic school I got, the more I kept thinking that surely “an ounce of prevention” would allow for stronger spines and healthier bodies. So, after completing chiropractic college, I decided to complete more specific training in pediatric chiropractic. I am a board certified by the International Chiropractor’s Association with a Diplomate in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics. This extra work provided more detailed clinical training on the special needs of pregnant patients and children, from newborn up. Over the years, I added to my training in nutrition, BioCranial technique and Active Release Technique.
